Project Overview

The objective of the project is to develop models and tools for the analysis of brain signals. It is mainly organized around signals from multi-scale and multimodal electrophysiological measurements such as EEG, SEEG, ERG and microelectrodes, in vivo (in humans) or in vitro (in animal models). The methodological challenges concern the mathematical formalization and resolution of inverse problems specific to neuroscience (source estimation/separation), denoising, detection and classification (biomarkers, spike-sorting), but also the estimation of relationships between the different measured or estimated signals (connectivities, inter-scale and/or inter-modality couplings, etc). Through external collaborations, the methods developed aim to help in the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with cognitive, neurological or psychiatric disorders, as well as in the development of computational models of these diseases. Furthermore, this methodological research, although having its specificities in terms of modeling the problems addressed, maintains strong links with other projects in the department (SiMul for signal processing and SyRaNNO for neuro-oncology).
