Development of the architecture supporting the Digital Twin for the Emergency Department

Description:
The Emergency Department is a strategic sector in the hospital chain. While the reception of patients is the first step in the hospital's care process, there are a number of limitations, particularly when it comes to managing the flow of arrivals, which has a major impact on patient care.

A pillar of the Industry of the Future, a Digital Twin (JN) is defined as a digital model of a product or system, capable of synchronizing in real time with its physical twin, simulating and predicting its behavior in order to propose piloting and control of the physical system as close to reality as possible [Negri et al., 2017; Kritzinger et al., 2018]. The benefits of using JNs for healthcare organizations are clearly stated [Patrone 2019; Moyaux et al., 2023], with objectives of reducing patient waiting times or length of stay, improving resource planning and so on.
In this vein, the ANR JUNEAU project aims to propose a JN for the SAU, capable of both gathering the data needed to visualize the service's behavior in near-real time, and predicting and anticipating its behavior, by adding a simulation engine coupled with optimization to respond to the hazards inherent in this type of service, in order to "enslave" and control the "time patients spend in the emergency department" indicator.

The post-doctorate will work mainly on WP2 of the ANR project, which focuses on the development of the JN architecture.
Thanks to its genericity and recognized ability to model complex systems, the choice fell on the adaptation of a holonic architecture to digitize the SAU. The digitized system will be enriched by access to a simulation model(s) of the system studied (via a specific holon), in order to produce an architecture model integrating Human and forecasting capabilities.

Description of expected work :

Task 2.1: State of the art of holonic architectures

The aim of this task is to study all the holonic architectures available in the literature, and to produce a detailed state of the art of those best suited to the JUNEAU project context. While the project participants have a very good knowledge of the architectures proposed in industrial engineering, they will have to explore the works closer to the needs of the JUNEAU project and identify the obstacles to be overcome for a better adaptation to the context of the study.
Deliverables: State of the art of holonic architectures of interest to the JUNEAU project.

Task 2.2: Architecture modeling
The state of the art produced above will be used in conjunction with the ontological data model built from the hospital information system and connected objects to model one or more potential architectures for digitizing all elements of the Emergency.
